Case study: how much can be saved in two years of EC FanGrid operation?

Wednesday 24 May 2023

We show an EC FanGrid retrofit project that was carried out by our partner Rosenberg France with the installers MCI SAS. The project involved the modernization of three air handling units moving more than 50,000 m3/h in a large house in the province of Champagne, France.

In this AHU retrofit project, the transmission fan were changed to electronically commutated fans; a nighttime reduction in consumption was incorporated and an automatic regulation system was installed. These three measures reduced energy consumption by more than 64%, from 28 kW to 10 kW.

Since commissioning, it has meant:

  • a reduction of more than 964 MW
  • savings of more than €90,000 in energy costs
  • 9 tonnes less CO2 emitted
  • Significant reduction in maintenance costs (no replacement parts due to wear and tear)
  • Increased system reliability in case of motor failure (system redundancy: multiple self-regulating EC fans).

Over time, these benefits only increase thanks to the lifetime of the components.

A team of Airtècnics specialized in efficient fan systems studies each case and will be able to estimate the energy saving potential of your installation.
