Advantages of installing an air curtain with heat pump

Wednesday 10 March 2021

The main advantage of selecting a heat pump air curtain for your business premises is the energy and cost savings. You may be wondering what a heat pump is. So let's put it into context and take a closer look at how it works and its main features.

Energy savings of a heat pump connected to an air curtain

A heat pump is a thermal system that extracts the energy it needs from the ambient air and transfers it to the inside of a building, in this case, through an air curtain. The refrigerant passes through the heat exchanger of the outdoor machine, so that it absorbs heat from the ambient air. The heated refrigerant passes through the closed circuit to the air curtain exchanger. There, the air passing through the curtain is heated and discharged into the room.

The heat pump is not only suitable for heating. If the heat pump system is reversible, in summer it extracts the heat from the room to be cooled and discharges it outside.

Why does a heat pump save money and energy?

Firstly, the electrical energy consumption required by a heat pump is negligible compared to other forms of heating. In addition, more energy is emitted than is expended, because the efficiency is more than 100%.

On average, a heat pump emits between 4 and 6 kWh of heat for every kWh of electrical energy consumed. Also, by not using fossil fuels such as natural gas or diesel to generate heat, the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere is drastically reduced.

Air curtain models compatible with heat pumps

In Airtècnics there are numerous models compatible with a heat pump. There are models compatible with cooling and heating, such as the Windbox and Windbox recessed; Dam and Dam recessed; Smart, Rotowind and finally, the Windbox BB, Windbox Recessed BB, Zen BB and Windbox L or XL on request.  If you only require heating, you can choose between the Rund, Zen and Invisair air curtain models.

Regarding heat pumps, among the available models we can find Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, LG, Midea, Hitachi, Toshiba, Panasonic and Carrier. Airtècnics applies a policy of variety in DX brands, so, if you need any other brand, Airtècnics could develop it.

Moreover, if you consult with our team of experts, they will be able to recommend you which options adapt better to your needs. If you already have a heat pump installation with VRF system, you will be able to adapt the best air curtain to your space and in case you have a 1:1 heat pump system, the installation can be adapted according to your convenience.

In short, a heat pump is the most efficient, ecological and economical system for maximum thermal comfort in your premises.
