More efficient ventilation systems thanks to EC FanGrid modernisation projects

Tuesday 13 June 2023

ECFanGrid retrofit projects are a guarantee for a more efficient ventilation system. On this occasion, our partners from Rosenberg Germany have carried out a major retrofit project of an AHU in the automotive sector, where a triangular, double-belt-driven fan was replaced by an energy-efficient ECFanGrid.

The old fan used one motor to drive two impellers simultaneously. The two bearings had to be greased frequently. Over time, these systems became unbalanced. This caused a large gap between the impeller and the cone, resulting in a considerable reduction in fan efficiency.

The interior of an AHU before and after a retrofit project

However, with the installation of an ECFanGrid, these problems disappear because the maintenance of the equipment is limited, as it is configured with energy-saving external rotor motors.

Furthermore, it is a simple and quick solution for the modernization of air handling units because the Plug and Play fan configuration facilitates the installation and design of the panel, which is made of galvanized steel profiles.

One of the advantages of these units is the redundancy offered by the composition of several EC fans working at the same time. The fans adjust their power automatically so that if any of the fans fail, the rest adapt to the work demand required by the unit. In this way, they provide a continuous and constant airflow.

Continuous and constant airflow is essential for virtually all ventilation units in industry, buildings or commercial premises. EC Plug fans are the most popular choice for new and existing air handling units.

Increased energy efficiency

The old and inefficient drive-driven fans become the maximum energy consumers in a building. That is why from Airtècnics we recommend Plug and Play fans that offer the necessary reliability, and provide optimum efficiency and environmental benefits.

Existing air handling units tend to be increasingly retrofitted with multiple EC fans configured in a matrix. EC fans do not require frequency converters thanks to their integrated electronics, making them the best choice for controlling operation in energy-efficient air handling units.

Consult our expert team for the system of choice for companies that want to save energy, costs and time.
