Adapt the ventilation of your business to the pandemic

Tuesday 26 January 2021

With the emergence of COVID-19, our lifestyle has changed radically. This transformation in habits has been transferred to all sides: the way we work, have fun or study has been altered and, as a result, businesses have had to adapt their facilities to the needs of preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

Boutique

As the first and most important form of prevention, the health authorities recommend that establishments have ventilation. Awareness of the importance of being surrounded by clean air makes this a healthy acquired habit.

Thus, having openings to the outside, doors and windows with crossed ventilation, favours the flow of air that renews the air inside, the quality of which is between five and ten times poorer than the quality of the street air.

Mechanical ventilation

But the low temperatures we face in winter and the need to air-condition the interior in summer, makes the possibility of natural ventilation difficult due to the lack of comfort for people and the loss of energy and consumption. With the consequent risk that implies the recirculation of the air in the air conditioning systems.

Therefore, the best option to adapt to the COVID era and gain in comfort, besides saving energy and money is to install in our business a good mechanical ventilation system complemented with disinfection systems.

Clothing shop adapted to the pandemic

To have an ideal ventilation system, its installation must be adjusted to the function and occupation of the building. In addition, they must have a filter if what is sought is to guarantee the healthiness of the air. Thus, the filters can be as effective as the quality of the air you want to obtain. If we are looking for air quality that is free of viruses and bacteria, we can install a HEPA filter or add the Kleenfan disinfection system, which is integrated on demand into all the products in the Airtècnics catalogue.

Does it need maintenance?

Its maintenance is essential. Cleaning the grilles, diffusers, fittings, and filters, and replacing the latter according to standards, is the only way to ensure th at the flow of circulating air is adequate in terms of both quality and quantity.

The European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Association (REHVA) recommends that ventilation systems should operate for two hours, before and after opening hours. At weekends, they should be operated at minimum efficiency. It also advises that in the toilets the ventilation is constant. And that the system works at maximum performance during the day, even if it has automatic regulation according to the level of CO2.
