Air handling unit for caterers

Tuesday 21 September 2021

A big caterer in Germany has his own air handling unit Airbox from Rosenberg that reaches an air flow of 21.000 m3 per hour and has been installed in the top of the building.

This AHU has been designed to strictly comply with the German VDI 2052 and VDI 6022 directives governing the minimum conditions for ensuring a healthy environment and is equipped with:

  • multi-stage filter units
  • a highly efficient heat recovery system to further utilise the actual heat of the "waste product" in commercial kitchens in an energy-efficient manner
  • components of the highest quality to withstand the continuous and prolonged use suffered in these installations

The air handling units are modular manufactured by Airtècnics, they can be individually configured, adapting to the specific characteristics of each location. Moreover, if the requirements of the installation change, they can be quickly and easily adjusted. These mechanical ventilation systems ensure that, in any indoor space, the air is of high quality and has a comfortable temperature for the users.

As mentioned, the design of AHUs is fully customisable and can be manufactured:

  • with explosion-proof materials that prevent deflagration in the event of an explosive atmosphere, such as ATEX fans for air curtains
  • corrosion or anti-rust protection, resistant to extreme climatic conditions
  • with HEPA or ULPA absolute filters

Furthermore, they meet the energy efficiency requirements of the EN 1253/2014 (Ecodesign) standard, as well as the highest quality requirements that characterise Rosenberg and Airtècnics.

Each installation has to comply with the regulations of its territory, English standard CSN EN 16282-2, European Standard specifies requirements for the design, construction and operation of kitchen ventilation hoods, including technical safety, ergonomic and hygienic featuring.
